THE FORECAST OF YOUR FUTURE (PART 1)

Ritual (Series IV)

“Okay,” I said. “I can take a joke.” I began to shuffle down the opposite direction of the atrium corridor and I began to focus on a new plot, but I needed a new persona first, then the intangible and it’s obscurities would be a natural consequence.

In an effort to prove the power of the meaning of words, I will launch my latest metaphysical awareness campaign: Speaking in one-word sentences. And as I waited for my mom to pick me up from school I was reading an essay written by a Hawaiian clown who used to teach French Revolutionary Architecture but decided to write in order to teach and he wrote well for a clown I suppose – as I waited the notion struck me between the lines that this constant quest to transcend the shallow traditional surface of society and judgment, I was not operating inside the function…

THE FORECAST OF YOUR FUTURE (PART 1)

“Okay,” I said. “I can take a joke.” I began to shuffle down the opposite direction of the atrium corridor and I began to focus on a new plot, but I needed a new persona first, then the intangible and it’s obscurities would be a natural consequence.

In an effort to prove the power of the meaning of words, I will launch my latest metaphysical awareness campaign: Speaking in one-word sentences. And as I waited for my mom to pick me up from school I was reading an essay written by a Hawaiian clown who used to teach French Revolutionary Architecture but decided to write in order to teach and he wrote well for a clown I suppose – as I waited the notion struck me between the lines that this constant quest to transcend the shallow traditional surface of society and judgment, I was not operating inside the function of my mission to master world domination.

The second time I was administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was he second time it wasn’t necessary, and was the event that spurred me to embark immediately to see a specialist.

I always thought of myself as the dangerous type – mentally, obviously.

Hmmm. Life is inconsistent. I picked myself up and put myself down. I was as much a part of the problem as I was the solution as I was to the apathy.

What you expect of someone
something or
someplace
is what you’ll get.

Yeah, WHAT ever. Thanks for explaining THAT one to me, you self-actualized f**king genious, you. ARE YOU LISTENING TO YOURSELF? ….I wish I needed to regurgitate all the selfish-help book epiphanies that I read by a pragmatic spiritually elevated “writer” connect my (thus yours and the -universe-) dots.

When conversations turn into mud and I am being sabotaged by the tactless talkers, I used to terrorize them. Now I am older and I have a fifty-fifty chance that I am going to care anyway; I just sigh and quietly say, “Based on the information you have provided, explain what specific impact you have just made on my life.”

“What are you implying?” is also a fabulous conversation-stopper. My brother and I began to compile a list. Then friends added to it. Someday I will publish it under the self-absorbed section at Barnes and Noble. Soon I will care enough to get angry again.

“That’s an interesting perspective,” my friend C.A. would say when she was confronted by the psychologically stunted.

Self-fulfilling prophecy is determining the meantime what will concern very largely your past and present meantimes.

So my NEXT entry will be My Thoughts on “Nothingness.”

So… how are you going to be noticed when you’re not here?

Wendy Clark

jim-1

One of the many great things about the Wendy Clark Band is the degree of versatility within the circle of musicians that create this fine band.  For those of you familiar with the incredible talent of Jim Ruberto as bassist for WCB, wait until you see him switching over for lead-Rhett Haney will be on bass, Oscar Pop on percussion/vocals and Patricia Chavez on mandolin….need we mention Wendy Clark on guitar and lead vocals?…I think we just did.

Jim Ruberto is one of those artists that wears a bunch of musical hats-sound mixing and engineering, bass guitar, lead-the man is constantly immersed in music playing or production. Make it out to the Cork this Saturday to witness a fantastic musical venue from this group.

A QUICK NOTE: The charity event at the Cork will be from 4pm-8pm, however the Wendy Clark Band will be performing from 4pm-6pm so don’t…

The Show That Went to the Dogs

Wendy Clark

dog-show

Saturday at Highlands Cork and Cafe proved to be a festive time for man, woman and beast alike as the Wendy Clark Band laid down some fantastic sounds to help the Highlands Animal ClinicBBQ event. The show lasted into the early evening hours with patrons enjoying Clark’s original songs, a few cover tunes and some excellent food and drink.  The great thing about the Cork’s shady patio is-it’s dog friendly! The Cork has bowls of water out for the animals and what a turnout….dogs of all shapes and sizes.

We won’t mention who brought the instigator into the pack but at one point toward the end of a set, one dog took it upon himself to show some street cred and got the pack barking and howling…but did this stop Wendy and the band? Hell to the no, they kept jamming right through it and eventually music soothed…

Studio Session for new acoustic version of Sway

Studio Session for new acoustic version of Sway

The brilliant and multi-talented Jim Ruberto and I rehearsed at his house. Went to the very cool The Ghosthouse Studio in Denver with Rich Goldberg – I played the acoustic rhythm and did lead and backup vox, and Jim played fretless bass, electric lead, backup vox, and is engineering it. Oh yeah, and mastering it. It is extraordinary. Thank you, Jim!

Out With the Old, In With the New

Wendy Clark

Little-Bear-6

Friday evening marked the end of one era and the beginning of a new as Wendy Clark’s band, Tequila Mockingbird, gave their final performance. Wendy will now officially be known as The Wendy Clark band, still playing with all the fantastically talented musicians that enhance her songs. On a sad note, her drummer of 14 years, Rob Cameron, will no longer be playing with Wendy as he leaves a great career with the band.

Next gig for Wendy will be at Highlands Cork & Cafe on August 17th for a fantastic evening on the Cork’s open patio serving beer, wine and coffee. Stayed tuned to this blog for more info as it comes in (hint: special guest appearance may be coming up for the 17th).
